Good evening families of Fern Bacon Middle School,

Please take a minute to listen to the latest news for parent events at Fern Bacon.    

First, our goal this year is to increase our parent & community engagement.  As a community school, we can use your help.  We have multiple opportunities for you to make a difference at your student’s school.  If you’re interested, please fill out this VOLUNTEER FORM.  Volunteer fingerprinting for Fern Bacon parents is at no cost to you.  

Second, we also need parents to join our School Site Council & English Learner Advisory Committees.  Please nominate yourself or someone you know who will represent Fern Bacon parents working alongside teachers, students, and staff members on how to raise student achievement.  We also have paper nominations in the Front Office.  Our first meeting is October 22nd.  

Today, a parent letter went home informing you that all students will be presented with a SUICIDE AWARENESS AND PREVENTION TRAINING next week.  Our counselors, Mr. Avelar and Mrs. Menefee, will be presenting this important information to students in their Science class.  If you are in support of this, you do not need to do anything.  If you DO NOT wish for your child to participate, please call the front office at (916) 395-5340 or email Thomas-Avelar@scusd.edu with your child’s name and grade level.  

Lastly, we want to thank you for your generous donations to Andrew Bernal’s family.  We will miss Andrew’s presence on campus and in our classrooms.  His family wants you and your family to know that they appreciate all the words of comfort, love, and support.  Details on Andrew’s funeral and viewing can be found our website.
