Good afternoon Families of Fern Bacon Middle School,

This is Mrs. Coronado with several announcements regarding the labor strike.

Sac City certificated and classified labor partners, SCTA and SEIU, are planning a joint strike TOMORROW, Wednesday, March 23. Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff. With multiple bargaining units electing to strike, we are not able to ensure a safe learning environment for all students. As such, Fern Bacon Middle Schools and all Sac City schools will be closed beginning tomorrow until the strike comes to an end. Stay home until you hear from me. District leadership is continuing to work with our labor partners to avert a strike.

Grab and go lunches will be dispersed in the Staff Parking lot during the strike from 12:00 noon through 12:30 PM.

Students may also access academic activities by logging in to their CLEVER accounts, not Google Classrooms, and clicking on the Activity Menu for Middle School for suggested activities.

All soccer, track & field and extracurricular clubs are canceled for the duration of the strike. 

Once again, schools will be closed beginning TOMORROW, Wednesday, March 23rd. Please keep your child at home. For information about the strike and negotiations please visit the district website. You can expect regular updates from district leadership and me with further details as they become available, including when our schools will reopen.
