2021-2022 Academic Calendar
Dear Sacramento City Unified Families:
I am pleased to inform you that the Sacramento City Unified School Board has approved the school attendance calendar for the 2021-2022 school year. The Fall semester will start on Thursday, September 2, and at that time we will Return Together with full in-person learning on all campuses.

Summer Matters@SCUSD-Middle is an exciting 5-week program that gives incoming 7th and 8th grade students the opportunity to become agents of change in their new schools by completing student-led projects that incorporate both research and action through a human design thinking model.

IN-PERSON LEARNING EXPANDED TO 4 DAYS A WEEK STARTING WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2, 2021.
ROBO CALL / PARENT EMAIL MESSAGE
Good evening families of Fern Bacon Middle School. This is Mrs. Coronado with a very important message from our School Board. Please take a minute to listen. Earlier this week it was decided to use the 3 foot physical distancing guidelines which can expand in-person learning to 4 days a week for schools that have classroom space. At this time, we at Fern Bacon are able to offer all students who are currently doing 2 days a week of in-person learning to 4 days a week, Tuesday thru Friday.
FINALS WEEK = SBAC TESTING
FINALS IN ELA AND MATH WILL BE EQUIVALENT TO STATE TESTING OR THE SBAC. The testing schedule is as follows:
June 1: ELA 7 & 8
June 2: ELA 7 & 8
June 8: Math 7 & 8
June 9: Math 7 & 8
June 10-11: Math 7
June 14-15: Math 1 End of course exam
We will TEST STRONG at Fern Bacon. Check your grades in Infinite Campus to see where you stand at all times.
8TH GRADE PROMOTION UPDATE 5/28/2021
THEME: “Rise Up and Fly Away”
Our theme song for this year is “Fly Away” by Tones and I. In the song, she says,

CALLING ALL FAMILIES: STUDENT RETURN FORM NEEDED BY OR ON MARCH 17, 2021.
Sac City Unified is preparing to reopen schools and is requesting that each family select how you plan to return to school for the remainder of the school. Please take a minute to make a choice. There are two options families may choose.
The 1st CHOICE is if you wish your child to return to In-Person learning for two days a week at school in combination with 3 days of Distance Learning.

PARENT OPT-OUT LETTERS MAY BE DOWNLOADED FROM OUR WEBSITE AND DROPPED OFF AT OUR SCHOOL OFFICE. WE WILL CALL YOU UPON RECEIPT OF THIS LETTER.
PARENTS ARE ALSO WELCOME TO COME BY THE SCHOOL TO OBTAIN AN OPT-OUT LETTER, SIGN AND RECEIVE A COPY FOR YOUR RECORDS.

Thank you to all the families who have taken the time to fill out the following LCFF form. This helps our school maximize our district funding. In 2018-2019 we had 93% of our families complete this form. Last year we only had 88% of our families complete this form and as a result of -5% of parents not turning in the form, we lost $40,000. Currently, we have received only 55% of these forms and in danger of losing much more funding.
